What to Expect in Leopard's Weekly Study Groups: Frontend, Backend, and System Design

What to Expect in Leopard's Weekly Study Groups: Frontend, Backend, and System Design

As a member of the Leopard community, you're invited to participate in our weekly study groups, where we delve into Frontend, Backend, and System Design topics. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 4 PM PST we hop on Google Meet for informal study practice sessions. There are two main roles: Hot Seat and Interviewer ( and then lots of observers):

  • Hot Seat: You solve a problem live, with the group observing and providing feedback. We record it and put it on the Leopard private YouTube channel. No need to prepare in advance and it’s ok if you bomb 🤣

  • Interviewer: Your job is to guide the Hot Seat participant, asking probing questions, offering constructive feedback, and gently guiding them to the answer without giving everything away

It’s worth knowing that Leopard Study groups are VERY casual/informal. Whether you're a regular participant or joining for the first time, we try to keep the tone positive and welcoming. TBH it is a great way to get to know Leopard members with similar skills and interests!

Frontend Study Group – Mondays at 4 PM PST:

  • Focus: Tackling front-end sample problems, often from The Great Frontend

  • Participation: You can opt to be in the "Hot Seat", solving problems live, or be an "Interviewer", providing feedback and guidance. Or you can lurk <3 Feel free to sign up in advance or jump in during the session.

Backend Study Group – Tuesdays at 4 PM PST:

  • Focus: A lot of Leetcode practice, and/or problems someone got in an interview recently. Varying in seniority but its fun to mix it up

  • Participation: You can opt to be in the "Hot Seat", solving problems live, or be an "Interviewer", providing feedback and guidance. Or you can lurk <3 Feel free to sign up in advance or jump in during the session.

System Design Study Group – Wednesdays at 4 PM PST:

  • Focus: We usually pick one of the most popular system design questions

  • Participation: You can opt to be in the "Hot Seat", solving problems live, or be an "Interviewer", providing feedback and guidance. Or you can lurk <3 Feel free to sign up in advance or jump in during the session.

Lastly, make sure to add the study group calendar to your Google calendar!
